Rude, tough yet compassionate, Eddie Adams had a gift for sharing himself. I was lucky to be chosen to attend the first Eddie Adams Workshop for young photographers on his farm in upstate New York in October 1988. Eddie brought together the best talent in the photojournalism industry – his friends – who worked us students like dogs. As a young photojournalist from rural California, the experience was eye-opening. The lessons I learned during that time have stuck with me. The workshops continue today.
